It features the world’s tallest indoor waterfall and expansive indoor gardens. The project demanded interior materials that could blend nature-inspired aesthetics with heavy-duty performance to withstand millions of annual travelers.
Surviving the Tropical Traffic
Transforming a high-traffic hub in a tropical climate presented unique challenges:
Extreme Durability: With over 68 million passengers annually, wall claddings face constant impact, luggage scratches, and wear.
Humidity Resistance: Singapore’s tropical climate creates moisture issues. Traditional wood rots and molds easily in such environments. * Strict Safety Codes: As a major public infrastructure, all materials must strictly meet Class B Fire Retardant standards.
Engineering Nature with WPC
Gooday/Melinco supplied our premium WPC Decor Panel Series to create dynamic, textured walls that mimic natural wood but offer superior resilience:
• Curved Design: We utilized 176 and 160 Fluted Panels to achieve the fluid, wave-like wall structures that align with the airport’s futuristic architecture.
• Material Performance: Our high-density WPC substrate (0.75/1) is 100% waterproof and highly resistant to scratches.
